 Development in the 19th Century

I think if I could work in any era of PR history I would pick the 1800s. This was a time of American development and the world was open to new ideas, inventions, and life-styles. The Public Relations: Strategies and Tactics-9th Edition states that the 1800s was the birth of the “press agent.” I think I would have liked to work as a press agent back then. There was so much going on in the 19th century like western expansions, serious political developments, and corporate development. The building of the American Railroads, for example was a hugs public relations agenda that took place in the early 19th century. I just think it would have been nice to play a part in the advancement of our country in the field of public relations. Many things were yet to be discovered and it took almost pure genius to be successful in such an unmarked field. It was an era of discovery in the PR world.
